I recently received my Maestro Rr and getting it ready for my Pioneer AVH-4000NEX. I created an account to use the weblink site to flash the device and all is well till I get to the serial number input. It asks for the serial number of the radio being installed. When I put in the serial number of my new AVH-4000NEX, it says that the radio serial number is invalid.

The brand, serial number and part number of the radio In order to obtain the brand, serial number, and part number of your radio, you will typically have to remove it. If you're uncomfortable with removing and installing a car stereo, you may be better off just taking your vehicle to a local dealer and asking them to reset the radio for you.

I tried both the serial number in upper and lower case without much luck. Has anyone else had problems putting in their AVH-4000NEX serial number? Any remedy's for this situation?Thanks in advance. The only number on top my new pioneer radio that Im trying to install is a 6 digit device number.

I tried using that number but had no luck. On the side of the radio had some numbers engraved on the chassis of the radio such as PI5876E000XXXX (I filtered out the numbers just to be safe). I tried typing in the whole thing with no luck.

With a bit of searching on google, People were saying the ESN begins with two 0's. I then tried typing in 00XXXX and success! Im able to complete the flashing process. I guess my question is, did I do that right? Is the ESN that number (00XXXX) i found engraved on the side of the radio?Thanks again.

See the attached PDF; It will show you where to find your device number. Please note that it will be a sticker/label, and will not be engraved on the radio. If that one doesn't work, give us a call at the number in my signature so we can check to make sure that device number is in our database. If it's not, it will give you the 'invalid serial number' error and will need to be added by us.Note: Some early production NEX radios don't have the label.
