You can find Portable-VirtualBox here:I used it for some time and it works great (but now, I installed it on my computer for an everyday use.).You can follow this steps:1. Create a folder on your usb device for VirtualBox2. Download their installer and put it in the created folder3. Run the installer4. Check options to extract 32bits and 64bits versions5.
The installer will download the virtualbox setup or uses the one you've downloaded if you want.6. Once extracted, you can run portable virtualbox7.

Use the tray icon to configure, show, hide, and exit portable virtualbox8. When your done, just exit.EDIT: this version may leave traces on pc but you can travel with your vm.I hope it will help you.Regards,Guillaume. Since it needs admin rights to run it on other computer. It needs to install drivers, it needs to configure network access, so it is not as simple as it looks like.It will definitely not work in places like at work or in cyber cafe etc.On the other hand, the life installer is also widely used for some portable linux projects, I use myself too and works nice, thought the result is not very practical, the speed of operation of normal usb sticks is too slow for that, an operating system run inside virbox on an usb stick is just for fun, can not be used for anything serious for that. Under such conditions yes.The point was just that portable apps as defined by this site do not need admin rights to be run.
Apps that need admin rights are not considered portable since they can be used only at home on your own PC, but not while underway, at work etc.But even here there are some exceptions, e.g. Some system utils as defrag etc. Which are not portable too, since such system apps need admin rights by the nature of the job they have to do. They can be used at home only.Sure, at home I can get to admin rights every time, but then there is no real reason to use portable version, I can well install the original too. Particularly since the essential drivers has to be installed on the host PC anyway. As soon as I come to other computer then the one that is my private one, I can not use it.Virbox and something on it will run fine from usb hard drive, actually the portable version I was mostly running this way to be of any practical use.

I have a copy on one very fast stick, there I have ubuntu on it. Yes it works, but just for the challenge 'eureka it works', but of little practical use.Even on the usb hard drive the things are very slow, I think this would be application for the upcoming usb3 bus and compatible hard drive really. Probably lot of ram might help, but still lot of back and forth communication has to take place between the storage and the PC, so here even the usb2 bus could be a limit. I used this portable version long back. What I noticed is your USB drive needs to have the same drive letter on all computers to run Virtual Box. I don't know about the recent version. If drive letter creates problem it is best to use TrueCrypt.
Install TrueCrypt Portable,. Create a new volume and install Virtual Box portable in it.
Make sure to mount the volume with the same drive letter every time.Using TrueCrypt will give you additional security.Networking in virtual Box.Each time you sit on a new computer you may need to install the the network drivers.TrueCrypt and Virtual Box both need Admin Rights.Experiment this and write back. Well, the most recent version doesn't need it to be the same drive letter every time, but it appears vbox.me has. However, the actual content is still available at their last known ip, 78.46.130.32, so a friend and I grabbed all the files we could, and they are being hosted at his site,.The author hasn't been seen on his support forums since about May, it seems, although updates kept coming up until October.Anyone feel like picking this up? If I have time, I.might., but it's not looking very likely.
